Title: The weight of a little red book

During the tumultuous and dangerous time of the Cultural Revolution a book assumed importance and weight for billions of people.
Surrounding the original Little Red Book of Mao are 2,021 wooden dowels, each representing the multitudes of people impacted. Each dowel is wrapped with different poems chosen from the Red Book and depicted in traditional calligraphy. Mounted on a board covered in red sand, the dowels converge gradually towards the center giving a visual feeling of weight.
